Unpublished photographs of the Russian Romanov Imperial Family

18 Jul 2018

Photographs taken by those close to the last Tsar of Russia have captured his daily life, far from the turmoil of a reign that saw the Russo-Japanese War, the carnage of the First World War, mass demonstrations and revolts, and which ended with the bloody Russian Revolution.

Despite the tragic events that occurred at the twilight of Imperial Russia, it must be admitted that it remains a fascinating period. An exhibition center in Saint Petersburg has brought together 150 rare and captivating archival photographs dating from the beginning of the 20th century, taken by imperial photographers and the Romanov family themselves.
